Surrogacy for Single Parents
At Gift of Life Surrogacy Agency, we help both single and partnered intended parents. While the surrogacy process for single IPs is similar to the process for IPs who are married or in a relationship, there are some notable differences.
Just like IPs who are married or in a relationship, single IPs will also go through the IVF process to create an embryo that will then be carried by a gestational carrier (GC). Every single IP will need either an egg donor or sperm donor. In some cases, single IPs may need both an egg donor and a sperm donor if they have medical issues or a gene they don’t want to pass onto their child. It’s also important to note that not all states favor single IPs in their surrogacy laws. To learn more about the various laws, read our blog about surrogacy laws by state. At Gift of Life, we will make sure you are informed and educated while helping you with all of the legalities involved.
The benefits of single parent surrogacy can include fulfilling the dreams of parenthood, even without the desire to be married or have a long-term partner while still having biological ties with the child. You will also have the choice of your GC and donor, and it could be easier than adoption since some birth mothers and adoption agencies prefer two-parent homes.
Gift of Life is an incredible asset during a surrogacy journey as we will provide counseling, planning, coordination of medical and fertility clinic appointments, legal contracts and more, ensuring that you won’t be going through this alone.
A solid support system throughout this journey and beyond can make all the difference in the world. At Gift of Life, we are more than happy to be your support system! If you’re a single parent who is looking to have a child through surrogacy, please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions. We would love to be there for you every step of the way.
